British Values

At Harborne Academy all staff and students follow the 4Ps of Pride, Passion, Professionalism and Performance. These underpin the work of staff and students, as does our commitment to the fundamental human values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, tolerance and kindness.  BritValues

The government set out their definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy. Schools will be expected to focus on, and be able to show, how our work with pupils is effective in embedding fundamental British values. At Harborne Academy students will encounter these principles throughout everyday school life. In particular, our promotion of spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding in our curriculum and our assemblies. We have a detailed PSHE curriculum within form time and three PSHE days throughout the year. Our extensive enrichment programme including, clubs, trips and external guest speakers supports students with gaining a cultural understanding of British values and expands their experiences in a variety of ways. Our student leadership team and Head Girl and Head Boy show democracy in action at all levels of the Academy community and give our students a voice.

For further details please see the PSHE and assembly overview and visit our curriculum and pastoral pages to see some of the fantastic work that we do.
