PE

PE curriculum

As part of our ethos for a healthy active life style, Harborne Academy students will be expected to participate in at least 2 hours of PE lesson’s each week.

All students in year 7, 8 and 9 will participate in the following activities:

  • Athletics
  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Gymnastics
  • Handball
  • Hockey
  • Hockey
  • Rounder’s
  • Rugby
  • Tennis
  • Trampoline

During year 10 and 11, students will follow a core PE course which is option based, allowing for students to opt for a PE activity that can be more personalised.

  • Table tennis

More able PE students will be given the opportunity to participate in a vocational course, OCR Sports Studies. Students who have been selected form core PE will start this course in year 9 and work through until year 11 where they will gain a nationally recognise qualification in PE and Sport.

Our annual Sports Day is held at Hadley Stadium in July. Student compete against each other, representing their houses during a competitive and fun day.
